Within the framework of the “Urban Planning Perspectives in Dilijan” program, the “City-based participatory research” (CBPR) workshop was held on March 5, with the participation of about 20 active citizens of the community.

The workshop consisted of 3 main parts:

  1. In the outline of the public spaces alley, the participants outline separately and present the community public spaces for non-locals, analyzing the strengths/weaknesses of the public spaces.
  2. The process of insight is a qualitative process of joint creation and participation, which is carried out in a simultaneous mode, moderated by the method of a face-to-face seminar. The evaluation uses analysis methods that are specifically tailored for goal setting, action planning, and decision making.
  3. In the participatory project, the participants elaborate on the conclusions of the previous processes, detailing the public area of the riparian zone, adapting it to their needs and vision.

The workshop was conducted by Anna Khachatryan and Gayane Mirozyan, experts of the “Journalists for Urban Development” NGO.

The participatory workshop gives the residents an opportunity to depict, analyze the city with a special methodology, identify urban problems, and outline possible positive developments in the city. The whole process of the participatory workshop was accompanied by a team of moderators.

Analysis of the workshop results and the recommendations will be presented in the urban research report.

The “Urban Planning Perspectives in Dilijan” program is implemented by the “Youth Cooperation Center of Dilijan” NGO and the “Urbanista” platform.

The project is funded by the Eurasia Partnership Foundation-Armenia, Embassy of Sweden in Yerevan within the framework of SIDA’s Support to Civil Society for Impact on Reform, which aims to support Armenian civil society.
