STRIVE for a better future:communities and civil society resilience in Armenia
AIM
STRIVE for a better future: communities and civil society resilience in Armenia (STRIVE) aims to improve the resilience, sustainability, accountability, and capacity for innovation of Armenian civil society organisations (CSOs). This will enable them to play a pivotal role in raising awareness, deepening democracy, and serving constituencies in Armenia, especially vulnerable populations.
The program will provide around €700,000 in sub-grants to more than 110 CSOs, civic groups and media organizations to implement community initiatives, respond to emergencies by addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, take advantage of organizational model innovation (to improve CSO operations and services aimed at supporting vulnerable groups), to promote networks and partnerships through joint activities, to implement media literacy activities
RESULTS
• CSOs develop their organizational capacity around internal governance, accountability, transparency, sustainability and networks
• Mechanisms are being built and expanded that enable CSOs to engage citizens who share common values, providing quality services to vulnerable groups.
• Enhanced cooperation between CSOs and various stakeholders
TARGET GROUPS
CSOs, initiative groups, media organizations
- 176 CSOs (innovation-based capacity building, targeted financial support, mentoring cycles)
- 24 CSOs implement programs aimed at mitigating the impact caused by the emergency situation
- 520 CSOs participate in volunteering fairs, round tables, joint activities of CSO forums
- 30 initiative groups implement social innovation projects
- 8 CSOs and media organizations jointly implement media literacy programs
Citizens who share values, engaged in community life
- 3,600 participate in forums and fairs
- 250 in youth initiatives
360 participate in training
6,600 volunteers are aware of volunteering and active citizenship
Institutions providing educational services
3 educational institutions participate in the development of an academic course on the role of civil society in order to raise awareness among future young professionals.
5 educational institutions approve the course
Other actors
- 540 other actors participate in mentoring meetings, CSO forums, round tables and joint activities
FINANCING
“STRIVE for a better future” Community and Civil Society Resilience in Armenia” (STRIVE) program is co-financed by the European Union and implemented by NEF Belgium in partnership with:
- “AGAT” Center for the Protection of Rights of Women with Disabilities NGO,
- “BLEJAN” environmental, social, business support NGO,
- “Youth Cooperation Center of Dilijan” NGO
- “VINNET Goris” Development Fund.
The project budget is EUR 2,312,684 (EU funding: EUR 2,000,000; co-financing: EUR 312,684).
