With the support of the European Union and within the framework of the program “Human Rights for and with Refugees” implemented by the Estonian Refugee Council, the first meeting of the Refugee Community Council was held in Dilijan. The event was hosted by the Dilijan Youth Cooperation Center NGO.

The meeting was attended by 15 members of the Dilijan Community Council.

During the discussion, two co-chairs and a secretary of the Council were elected, and the Council’s work plan was approved.

The format of the Refugee Community Councils aims to activate, empower, and engage displaced persons by providing them with the opportunity to voice their concerns and participate in addressing them.

Based on the principle “Nothing about us without us,” the meetings will be held once a month, aiming to discuss the problems and needs raised by community members and jointly develop solutions.

“Human Rights for and with Refugees” project is implemented with the support of the European Union by Democracy Development Foundation, Estonian Refugee Council, Coalition to Stop Violence Against Women, and Commit Global.

The project focuses on empowering refugees from Nagorno Karabakh by providing essential knowledge about their rights, addressing vulnerabilities, and improving access to user-friendly resources on their entitlements and opportunities.
