Project Overview:

The Youth Cooperation Center of Dilijan NGO is proud to introduce the “Skills School” initiative, designed to tackle youth unemployment in the Dilijan consolidated community and its surrounding settlements. This project directly addresses the skills gap among unemployed young people, particularly focusing on soft and hard skills that are highly demanded by employers today.

A sociological survey conducted by YCCD in 2023 revealed that 68.9% of young people in Dilijan community are unemployed, with the lack of relevant skills being the primary reason. According to the 2019 National Competitiveness Report, even higher education students struggle to find jobs due to inadequate practical and professional skills. This issue is particularly severe in regional Armenia, where access to quality vocational training is limited.

Project Goals:

The “Skills School” project aims to reduce the high unemployment rate in Dilijan and its surrounding villages (Haghartsin, Teghut, Khachrat, Aghavnavank, Hovk, Gosh) by equipping young people with essential skills needed to succeed in the labor market.

Soft Skills Training:

Participants will develop critical communication, teamwork, leadership, and analytical thinking skills.

Language Proficiency:

English language courses will be provided to enhance employability.

Expected Outcomes:
  • Skill Development: All participants will develop soft and hard skills that are critical for their career advancement.
  • Employment Opportunities: 90% of the participants are expected to find jobs through networking events organized at the end of the training program.
  • Empowerment: The project places special emphasis on marginalized groups, including young women, providing them with the tools to compete in the job market.
Long-Term Impact:

This project is not just a short-term intervention but aims to create lasting change. By establishing an ongoing “Skills School,” YCCD will train 20 new participants every year, providing them with the knowledge and skills they need to secure employment and thrive in today’s competitive job market.

This project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia.
